The short answer
Death is not understood as the end of a person’s existence. Islamic belief includes resurrection, accountability, Paradise, and Hell. The life to come gives lasting significance to choices that may seem unnoticed or unresolved in this life.
A little more context
Descriptions of the unseen are approached through revelation, not as observations this website can independently verify. Muslims also discuss details through different theological traditions. We should distinguish an outline of belief from claims to know the final fate of a particular individual.
For someone beginning to explore Islam, the central connection is between meaning and responsibility: how we treat people matters, including when no one seems able to hold us accountable here.
